Asda to open 24 new Scottish stores as soon as next WEEK

ASDA has announced plans to open 24 new Express stores in Scotland, with the first opening next week. The supermarket giant revealed plans to open the new stores across all shelves in the United Kingdom - following its acquisition of 132 Co-op stores last year for £438 million. 1 One of the new Asda Express stores opening up in Manchester City Centre The first Asda Express will open in Glasgow on December 12. A further 23 shops will open in Scotland in the coming weeks following Asda taking over the Co-op. The newly converted stores will stock up to 3,000 branded and own-label products including ‘top up’ essential items such as milk and bread. It will also open an additional 310 stores in England and 22 in Wales in the coming weeks. The supermarket giant said shops will be shut on Christmas Day and Boxing Day this year to give staff some time off over the festive period. On Christmas Eve, stores will be open from 8am until 6pm. Stores will reopen from 8am to 8pm on December 27 until December 30. Shoppers also have until 6pm on Hogmanay to purchase any last-minute food and drink to see in the New Year. Stores will then be closed on New Year’s Day.
